Sweet sixteen ideas for my daughter!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. My friend found quite a few party accessories and supplies online for her daughters celebration. So I decided to give it a try. I was really surprised at what super favors and table decorations they had. I found a lot of nice stuff I can use for her party. I found these cute little cookie cutters in the shape of the number 16 and use it to make cookies for the party.

Since it was her birthday, I let her decide what she wanted and she decided to party at the roller rink and have her friends stay overnight. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. Then I invited all of her best girl friends. It was a lot cheaper than I figured it would be. Refreshments, pizza and hot dogs were also part of the package, and didn’t cost very much at all. The party was to continue at our house after the skating, so I had to get everything ready. I put up decorations, fixed a table with a few goodies to snack on, along with the sweet 16 cookies I prepared earlier.

I ordered more than the cookie cutters when I went shopping online. Since I was getting by so cheap with this party, I ordered extra gifts from the selection of sweet sixteen favors for her and her friends. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. They all knew about the cameras, so they could take pictures at the roller rink, but they had no clue about the albums I bought for them. They all took a few pictures at the rink and wanted to save some film for the slumber party they were having afterwards.

I also bought each of them little cosmetic bags with their initials on the front. With the cosmetic bags I bought manicure sets and little purse mirrors to go with it. I also sat out these adorable little favor boxes I bought online that were filled with candies for each guest. As soon as we got home, we celebrated with a sweet sixteen favor with cake and ice cream and she opened all of her presents. There were plenty of snacks and drinks, girlie teen movies for them to watch, so they were good to go for the evening. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. They were having a lot of fun together.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. I thought that was so sweet of them to ask. They were able to watch two of the movies we rented before eyes started closing. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I was very impressed with their thoughtfulness in helping me out. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the cheap sweet sixteen favors I bought for them. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.

I’ve been researching sweet sixteen party favors…

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So, I figured I’d see what they have. I couldn’t believe all the nice table accessories and party favors that were available. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party.

It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They had a great package deal for birthday parties, with pizza, hot dogs and refreshments. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

The cookie cutters wasn’t the only thing I ordered online. Since this birthday party wasn’t costing me what I thought it would, I decided to order a few sweet sixteen favors for the girls. I ordered some adorable pink photo albums for all the girls, and disposable cameras for them to take pictures of the party. They all knew about the cameras, so they could take pictures at the roller rink, but they had no clue about the albums I bought for them. I’m glad they only took a few pictures at the skating rink, so they would be able to take pictures of the sleepover too.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. With the cosmetic bags I bought manicure sets and little purse mirrors to go with it. Each of the girls also received a very decorative favor box filled with candies. As soon as we got home, we celebrated with a sweet sixteen party favor with cake and ice cream and she opened all of her presents. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. After they got tired of dancing to their favorite tunes, they decided to give make overs and manicures to each other. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

After they tired themselves out, they decided to put on a movie and grab the popcorn. Even though I tried to stay out of the way, when they asked me to watch a movie with them, I jumped at the chance. I thought that was so sweet of them to ask. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. Soon, the only ones awake were me and my daughter, but she didn’t last much longer. But before she passed out, she thanked me for giving her such a great party.

When I got up in the morning the girls were already downstairs and had eaten, then straightened up everything from the party. It was really sweet of the girls to do that. They shared a couple of more hours together and then some of the girls had left for home. Each of the girls said they had a great time at the party and they loved the sweet 16 favors I got them. So, I guess that makes me a cool mom, hey?
